Examples of Recent Forex trades on the 60 minute Chart. 800 pips in a week!!

Here are two wonderful examples of trades taken on the EUR/JPY pair as a result of what the www.fx500club.com have taught me about trading the 60 minute time frame.

09:00 February 20th 2009 I entered on the break of the psychological barrier 118.00 targeting the previous high at 120.33 = 233 pips , took profit 8 hours later at 17:00, very nice.

The second example was from 02.45 on February 24th I didn't take this one but I wanted to show the example because it was such a good clear set-up (reminder to myself, start using automated orders for overnight trades) The best and safest entry would have been from 120.33 using the 15 minute chart, again targeting the previous high at 122.00. Another 167 pip trade in 7 hours with little or no drawdown. Trades like this on the 60 minute tf are wonderfully relaxed, you have ages to check and double check your entries, with a much better probability of being in the direction on the trend.

Whilst I watch and wait for setups using the hourly chart, and making sure the trend is with me on the 4 hour, I do drop down to the 15 minute charts for a tighter entry.

As you can see we are taught to use the combination of Moving Averages in order to clearly see the trend on the trading timeframe and also the higher timeframes. The other three indicators top to bottom are the CCI 21, CCI 84 , CCI 5  and the stocastic. The CCI 21 and 84 are mainly used for a quick visual aid to confirm you are trading in the correct direction. The CCI 5 crossing from below zero is our trigger to buy. The stocastic is my own addition I love it as it keeps me out of false entries , it is a momentum indicator. The rules are for a long trade providing all the moving averages are correctly aligned, enter the trade when the stocastics cross from below the 20 level, for a short from above the 80.

We are taught to trade as closely to the red Moving average as possible, when the thick red is above the thick blue the trend is up and we look for long positions when the price retraces to bounce off the red, vice versa for shorts. We are taught to place our stop losses below the thick red ma , it acts as support. The candles changing from red to green also helps validate an entry.

I have also included a more advanced example of an entry at the vertical yellow line, I did not take this trade but would have if I had been up at 6am. The price is above all the moving averages and all the other indicators look to the upside. The only one that is a little confusing is the stocastic, it is nowhere near the 20 level normally required for a valid entry, the reason for this is two fold, at 6am there is no momentum in the market, the London open is two hours away, also for the stocastic to fall the price would need to drop through all those moving averages. It cannot as they are acting as huge support. This is a very important lesson, watch out for the mas all bunched up below the price for a long or above for a short, they give fantastic entries, also be careful when waiting for the stocastics to drop below 20 in order to get in long, again for reasons just explained it is not always able to press through support or resistance.
