Speak to numerous forex traders and they will all have mixed views on how they draw trend lines, some like to use the wick of the candles, others like to use the closing price.
I prefer to draw mine on both but I do think the closing price on the higher timeframes is the best way, especially on the daily, weekly and monthly timeframes. |

Drawing trendlines for trading forexHeres a very useful post showing how you can draw trendlines and channels on a chart and then trade the price action using the trendlines as support and resistance.
Wow yet another amazing morning for the early bird London trader. No clear 100% H1 reversals for me this morning so I decided to apply a bit of common sense and pure price action analysis to the best looking charts. EUR/JPY was my choice of trade this am but I also liked the look of EURO long. To trade both would have been pointless and just doubled my risk. EU m5 chart below My ej trade in detail below ej m5 chart below ej 1 minute chart below ej showing how the price respected a weird channel pattern The moral of this post, watch price action every day and for long enough then just apply common sense and good money management. I shold have shorted these pairs at the resistance but I need to get a bit more experience yet. As I typed this price action did it again, note the channel was drawn well before the price reacted to it during my trading session. As price action at support and resistance traders we must use every sensible tool in our toolbox to trade with, always remember, the higher timeframe overides the lower, trading a H1 reversal means taking targets from the H1 timeframe, NOT the 5 minute or 15 minute (something I need to remind myself of often) Something else that I am realising as I teach myself to trade price action in these early sessions is "take all the good setups", using good money management rules will protect your capital. Why sit here all day pratting about around news, market opens / closes, low volatility and every other reason to be out of a trade. These 6am to 9am moves provide amazing pips, just trade what you see on the charts. PRICE ACTION. Took another cheeky long EJ trade for 1% RR I have made my 3% today but I want to post what I am watching, ej h1 charts. Candlesticks and price action never lie. no close yet, cheeky institutional traders and up she went, 5% banked this morning and EJ stop to BE, 25% of my final trade left on. The big word is EJ has a way to go north now. Trade PASR as always though. |
